The essay packet 1 was very detailed and was one of those readings that made you really think. Some of the essays were a bit excessive and they didn't really follow my tastes in things to read. I didn't really like these essays for the most part. Although, there was at least one or two essays in the packet I did like. One was "Things to do today" which caught my eye because of the way it was structured. It was written as a list and the list included many things that were more negative which I felt was a good approach because its not one of those happy ending kind of stories but its real and forced your to try to relate with each and every part of the list as you read it.
What else i liked was in essay packet two with the Prevallet writings because they had the details that you would see in any other essay to really make you sit and try to draw a mental picture throughout. The imagery was great in terms of trying to portray an image in your mind. Then at the bottom of each there was sort of a poem or a symbol that allowed you to think about what was being said and also to build your own conclusions about the entire thing. What made it weird was that she used comparisons to build your mental pictures. In Synthesis V, she talked about a fly the entire essay at the top then when the top portion was coming to a close she ended it talking about honey. After that, the bottom part talked about a bee which almost binds them together.

Burroway writings
I can really relate to the Burroway writings especially when it tanks about feelings because feelings CAN be good or bad depending on the feelings and the situation. It talks about people avoiding good feelings such as love or intimacy and I know for a fact that I've done that many times. The avoidance of these feelings allow people to feel like they are protecting themselves from getting hurt and that they are safe. This is what I liked most about the Burroway writings.

Response to Goldberg Reading
Go Further really caught my eye because it reminds me if myself at the moment. I am the type of person that knows exactly what I want to write most times but sometimes it doesn't have enough detail. I find it tough to really reach that next level of detail but the sentence "Well, the tenth minute is up... Write to the eleventh minute if you need to." This sentence truly made me think of going the extra mile even when I write.
I felt the same way about my writing as it is said in 'Go Further' because it says when you stop yourself from going all the way in your writing its almost like carrying a nightmare out into your life with you. It's almost as though you are holding yourself back and that is what I feel I've been doing in terms of my writing. In writing, it is important to be specific and detailed and if you aren't it is as if you leave yourself and the reader out to dry, which is one thing I do not want to do with my writing.
This section of the reading was the main one that really hit home in terms of my own writing. I liked the others but this one truly touched on who I was as a writer so I appreciated it. Think about this. If you we're reading and the author left you out to dry and was not very detailed, you would not want to read many more of their work because there is no detail to help explain how you want the reader to interpret the reading.
